Process Differentiation Options
The process in curriculum is in the actions (thinking, feeling, physical, etc.) students use to develop their understanding of the content. Learning processes include the way students find and work with information and resources, as well as the ways they interact with others (peers, experts, teacher, etc.).
Strategies for differentiating learning processes include:
- Involving more complex thinking
- Involving expert methods of inquiry
- Group interactions with peers who have similar abilities
- Opportunities to pursue individual interests
- Open-ended learning experiences
- Flexible pacing
- Opportunities for reasoning and reflection
- Including student self-selected learning processes
- Variety in the differentiated learning processes involved
